Often, when we think of a second language, we think of a culture or a nation. Our mind travels back to our school years and skits we had to perform in front of the class. Oh the laughter and fun! Perhaps we think back to when we actually traveled to another country where we found ourselves stumbling for the words to order food or find the restroom. Frustrating, right? English, French, Spanish, German, Latin etc. can all be considered a second language.
I think second languages go beyond cultural communication. Have you ever thought of a trade as a second language? If you have had an engineer or a doctor explain something to you, I bet you had to ask them to speak in layman terms. Maybe you think you understand what they are saying, but the familiar terms can have a different meaning inside of a doctor's head.
Like any trade, crochet has its own terminology.
You find a cute crochet item you just have to make, but one look at the pattern and you shake your head. What language is this you ask?
